MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Myofascial release is a hands-on therapy which directly changes and improves the health of the fascia. It breaks down scar tissue, relaxes the muscle and fascia and restore good posture. MET uses slow and sometimes deep pressure to restore the proper health of the fascia, to eliminate pain, and restore motion.

Fascia is very densely woven, covering and interpenetrating every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of our internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord. It also plays an important role in the support of our bodies, therefore, when there is a tightening of the fascia the person experiences a vast array of imbalances which are stemming from fascia. This shortening, or contracting of the fascia although in one part of the body, can show the effects in completely opposing parts of the body. i.e. neck pain, could be a result of a shoulder injury/shortening of the fascial structures of that area. In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration.
