WATSU
It is a therapy based on the principals of Zen Shiatsu, and happens to take place while floating in a pool setting. Warm water’s therapeutic benefits, and its freeing of movement, make it an ideal medium for passive stretching. The non gravitational environment allows the spine to be moved in ways that would be impossible on land. These gradual and gentle twists and pulls relieve the pressure that dysfunction puts on nerves and organs.
Many different levels of holding patterns often appear with this therapy. Often the person could be holding on to a physically trauma that just won't release, and through this method, release is acquired. Or, the person is holding on to an emotional holding pattern, and the water helps to bring this to the surface of awareness, (often, emotional releases are quite normal, and expected). Many find a week of Watsu to be one of the most transforming experiences of their life.
